It is far better for politicians to fear their constituents’ wrath in the voting booth and in the marketplace of information and ideas than for the constituents to fear that they cannot criticize, expose, enlighten and hold their politicians accountable. Freedom of speech is no less sacred than freedom of the press and freedom of religion, and those willing to use it must be encouraged and protected.
