There is not enough in our budget this year for a full remodel of any part of our house, but we are making smaller and more affordable changes to each area of our  home and the overall effect for us is a great improvement in the whole house. In the kitchen, we painted the walls and added new rugs and linens to make it cheery. To the bathroom, we added electric towel rails to add some luxury and also a nice design element to the room. To those of us that bathe in that room, that was a major upgrade and a nice touch.
