The Credibility of the Expert Witness

When a court case hinges on expert testimony (a witness who will testify), it is important to know about his or her true credibility before going to the witness stand. One area that more attorneys are attempting to attack is the credibility of the experts on the stand. Some of the tactics include his failure to consider other causes to the outcome, insufficient sample sizes when testing, anecdotal evidence, and subjective testing. If any of these types of questions are brought up in court and the expert cannot answer quickly and confidently to the interrogation, the jurors may reduce the importance or accuracy of his testimony.
